Kid-Napped In Cartagena

Casey and Johnny are back, this time in Colombia, to rescue the abducted families of two top soccer stars. Days before the World Cup soccer championship between Italy and Argentina, the wives and children of Italy’s two top scorers are abducted from a café in Cartagena.

Italy cannot possibly win the Cup with its top players so distracted by overwhelming fear for their families’ safety. In order to win, the players must score. To score, they need to focus. To focus, their families must be rescued. Once again, clues somewhat fall into Casey’s and Johnny’s laps, and along with Samantha, Chelsea, and two new additions to the young team of sleuths, they find themselves in the thick of the investigation.

Cartels, mafia, intrigue, and plenty of laughs fill readers with a wide range of emotions as they devour the pages of this novel.

  2. David Barnes

“A fun, action packed novel that reads like a combination of The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mysteries of yesteryear, with a current day theme. It’s perfect for older children, teens, and adults.”

  3. Kerry Lawrence

“Another brilliant Balkind nail-biter featuring his young sleuths. Vivid depictions of the excitement of the World Cup mixed with an epic story featuring life and the underworld in South America and the passion of sports.“

  4. JoAnn Ferrigno, Founder of Camp Summerset, a Reading & Creative Writing Camp

“I really enjoyed this book. It is so kid relatable and the language is exactly how adolescents communicate. The story held my attention; and it is so wonderful to read a story that doesn’t involve fighting aliens and bad monsters who want to destroy Earth.”

  5. Michael Rooney

Kid-Napped in Cartagena is a nonstop action story with some humor sprinkled in. Young readers are sure to enjoy the character development and will surely relate to the interactions between their peers and the adult characters. I found it hard to put down as I remembered my days as a youth.”

  7. Steven Peltz

“Having grown up in the 50’s and 60’s I always felt badly that my children did not have mysteries like the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew to read and enjoy. Michael Balkind has changed that with a series that young adults, adults and kids of all ages will enjoy. The stories have a group of young adults that work together to resolve criminal cases and use all of today’s social media and electronics so everyone will enjoy reading them.”

  8. Harrison Mellor
